

Sean Gee (Convio Software (formerly GetActive Software)
Sean has five years of experience in database and constituent management
software in the association and non-profit sector and over 15 years of customer
service experience. He has a passion for the environment, compassion for animals,
and a desire to help build the green community in Washington, DC. Sean has
worked on Live Green’s membership management software, exploring and where to
best store member data and how to effectively reach out to and engage members.
Hawah Kasat (One Common Unity)
Hawah is Co-Founder and Executive Director of One Common Unity, Inc., a non-
profit organization that nurtures sustainable communities through innovative peace
education, global arts, and media. For three years he directed the Peaceable
Schools Program in DC’s largest public high school, leading Alternatives to
Violence, Positive Stretch, and Deep Breathing and Yoga classes. A spoken word
poet known as Everlutionary and an artist with a diverse collection of paintings and
photographs, Hawah has authored three books: Trails: Trust Before Suspicion
(2001), Escape Extinction (2003), and zerONEss (2006). You can see his work at

DJ Kim (Java Green)
In 2003, DJ established Java Green, a downtown DC cafe serving organic,
vegetarian food, with the goal of being in harmony with Mother Earth while providing
patrons with an easy way to live a healthy lifestyle. Since that time, DJ has worked
hard to make Java Green one of the most eco-friendly and socially responsible
businesses in the United States. In 2006, the restaurant was nominated by Coop
America for a Green Business Leadership Award.
Sandeep Mody (The Maplesden Group)
Sandeep is a licensed real estate professional and co-owner of a successful
residential and commercial real estate sales company in the DC area. He co-
founded Avatar Studios, a non-profit international media collective, to inspire holistic
living and spiritual awareness through live theater, audio recordings, film, and video.
As a board member of Food for Life Global, a multinational food relief organization,
Sandeep focuses his non-profit management skills on developing centralized
systems and project development initiatives throughout the world.
Amrita Mody (Avatar Studios)
Amrita is Co-Founder of Amala Art, a DC-based art design firm specializing in
custom murals, mosaics, fine art, and portraits, and is an active partner in Avatar
Studios, an international non-profit art collective. As an officer and board member of
Food for Life Global, a green-conscious food relief organization with a presence in
over 50 countries, Amrita provides consultation services for grassroots project
initiatives and volunteer coordination. Amrita studied fine arts in boarding schools
throughout the world, including India, Malaysia, and Los Angeles.
Jamie Mierau (American Rivers)
Jamie is Associate Director of River Heritage at American Rivers, a national non-
profit organization dedicated to restoring and preserving North American rivers. She
works protect the last great rivers through Wild and Scenic designations and by
engaging local communities in safeguarding and improving river health by
reconnecting the people to the rivers through water trails. Previously, Jamie
performed natural resource management field research, developed
recommendations for governmental policy in Costa Rica, and studied natural
systems agriculture at The Land Institute in Kansas. Jamie earned a B.A. in
Environmental Studies from Denison University and an M.A. in Environmental and
Resource Policy from The George Washington University.
